NIMC alts data modifications at enrollment centers, shifts to self-service portal

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced it will no longer process data modification requests at its National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment centers nationwide.

Instead, NIN holders are now required to use the NIMC self-service modification portal for updates.

The commission, which shared the update on Wednesday via its official X handle, stated that the shift is part of efforts to streamline and enhance the National Identity Management System.

“Modification activities will no longer be conducted in our enrollment centers. Instead, we have launched a convenient self-service modification portal, empowering you to update your information securely and efficiently online,” the statement read.

The self-service portal, which was launched earlier, allows users to modify their NIN details online, eliminating long queues and delays previously experienced at enrollment centers.

NIMC emphasized the benefits of the portal, including convenience, faster processing times, and enhanced data security.

Despite the advantages, some users have reported challenges using the portal. Issues include difficulty receiving one-time passwords (OTPs) to proceed with transactions and rejected applications after making payments.

NIMC modification services such as updating a date of birth cost N16,340, while changes to phone numbers or names are priced at N1,522 each.

To use the NIMC self-service portal, users can visit the modification website, select the “NIN Modification” option, make payments via Paystack, and upload necessary documents. Once approved, users will receive their updated NIN slip via email or directly from their dashboard.
