NAFDAC workers embark on indefinite strike

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has initiated an indefinite strike against the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The strike, which began on October 7, 2024, is in protest of unresolved staff welfare issues.

The union’s demands include the review of promotion examination results, appointments for key director positions, reform of the promotion exam content, and the establishment of a psychology officer cadre.

Other pressing concerns include the payment of pending burial expenses, life insurance, repatriation allowances, and salary arrears.

The decision to strike followed a 14-day ultimatum issued to NAFDAC management, which was not met.

The union has directed workers to withdraw their services and vacate NAFDAC premises until their demands are addressed.

SSASCGOC has instructed state and zonal coordinators to ensure full compliance with the strike order, emphasizing the union’s commitment to persisting with the action until all issues are resolved.
