Several prominent Emirs were deposed by British colonialists in northern Nigeria for rebellion in the early 1990s.
Northern Nigerian Emirs deposed by the British Colonialists for acts of rebellion include:
Late Emir of Bida, Mal. Moh’d Abubakar, deposed in 1901; died in Great Britain
Late Emir of Kano, Mal. Aliyu Abdullahi, deposed in 1903; died in 1926
Late Emir of Zaria, Mal. Moh’d Lawan Kwasau, deposed in 1902; died in 1927
Late Emir of Gumel, Mal. Amadu Abubakar (sarki Amadu 1) also called Dan Abubakar; died in 1916.
Late Emir of Gwandu, Mal. Muh’d Aliyu. deposed in 1906
Late Emir of Zaria, Mal. Aliyu Dansidi, deposed in 1920; died in 1926
