Three men arraigned in Ibadan for allegedly receiving stolen vehicles

Three men, Kazeem Badiru, 54, Monsuru Iyadunni, 47, and Adeniran Adewumi, 39, were arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday, facing charges of conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offenses occurred in October 2024 in the Moniya area of Ibadan.

Prosecutor Inspector Olagoke Adegbenro told the court that the defendants knowingly received three stolen vehicles, collectively worth millions of naira, from one Muritala Akinniyi.

The stolen vehicles reportedly belonged to Mr. Wasiu Adetunji, Sylvester Guobapia, and Muhammed Aliu.

Adegbenro further stated that Badiru received a stolen vehicle valued at N6.5 million, Iyadunni received one worth N3.5 million, and Adewumi received another valued at N1.85 million.

The alleged offenses are said to contravene Sections 516 and 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Mrs. Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted Badiru bail in the sum of N2 million, with two sureties; Iyadunni was granted bail in the sum of N1 million, also with two sureties; and Adewumi was granted bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sums.

The case was adjourned until April 8 for further mention.
