Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has taken a significant step towards enhancing education in the state by forwarding a bill to the State House of Assembly on Monday.
The bill, titled “Osun State College of Health Technology and Management Sciences Establishment Bill 2024,” seeks the upgrade of the Osun College of Health Technology in Ilesa to a polytechnic.
The bill was introduced by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, during the plenary session.
He quoted the governor, stating, “I wish to inform you that the above-named bill has been processed and is ready for your consideration and passage.”
Governor Adeleke explained that the primary purpose of the bill is to regulate and elevate the status of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, into a full-fledged polytechnic.
The institution will be renamed the Osun State Health Technology and Management Sciences, under the proposed changes.
In addition to the upgrade of the health technology institution, Speaker Egbedun read another bill forwarded by the governor aimed at establishing the Osun State Startup Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, designed to boost the state’s digital innovation and entrepreneurial landscape.
