Uproar in Senate over refusal to immortalize Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, late INEC chair

There was mild uproar in the senate on Wednesday over the rejection of the motion to immortalize late INEC Chairman, Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, in the Babangida administration.

Accordingly, Senator Victor Umeh was furious over Senate’s rejection of the motion to immortalize Prof. Humphrey Nwosu.

Also, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe walked out of Senate after his motion to immortalize Humphrey Nwosu as architect of June 12 Election was turned down by his colleagues.

Abaribe told the presiding officer,  DSP Barau, that   “We are not under a dictatorship”, stressing the need to allow a sitting senator express his views on a bill in the Senate.

Nwosu presided over the June 12, 1993, presidential election won by MKO Abiola, but was declared inconclusive by the military regime.
