Ilorin Bar Shooting Leaves Four Dead, Two Critically Injured in Cult ClashAt least four people have been killed and two others are in critical condition after suspected cultists opened fire at a relaxation spot in Ilorin, in what authorities describe as a violent confrontation linked to cult supremacy rivalry.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, June 14, 2026, at a makeshift bar located in the Post Office area near the railway line, a busy part of the city where residents often gather for evening relaxation.

Security sources said about five armed men stormed the bamboo structure around 9:00 p.m. and opened fire on patrons without warning. The attackers reportedly shot indiscriminately before fleeing the scene, leaving multiple victims injured and others dead on arrival.

Emergency responders and police patrol teams were quickly deployed after distress calls from residents. Victims were evacuated to the Police Clinic in Ilorin, where medical personnel confirmed four fatalities, while two survivors were admitted for emergency treatment due to severe gunshot injuries.

The Kwara State Police Command has described the attack as cult-related, suggesting it may be connected to ongoing rivalries between confraternities operating within the state.

Following the incident, police launched a coordinated manhunt involving tactical and intelligence units, leading to the arrest of two suspects believed to be connected to the shooting. Investigators say the suspects are cooperating and providing information that could assist in tracking down other members of the group allegedly involved in the attack.

A police spokesperson said efforts are ongoing to dismantle the network behind the violence, adding that additional arrests are expected as investigations progress.

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State condemned the attack and described it as a serious threat to public safety and order. Security presence has since been strengthened around the Post Office area, as well as other parts of Ilorin such as Challenge and surrounding student-populated zones, amid concerns about possible reprisal attacks linked to cult activities.

Authorities have also appealed for calm while assuring residents that all individuals involved will be brought to justice.
