Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Sávio from Manchester City in a deal that could rise to £85 million, marking one of the biggest transfers of the Premier League summer window.

Spurs will pay an initial £75 million, with a further £10 million available in performance-related add-ons. The move takes Tottenham’s spending in the current transfer window beyond the £300 million mark.

The 22-year-old, previously known as Savinho, has signed a long-term contract with Tottenham and will wear the No. 17 shirt. The club officially confirmed the transfer on Tuesday.

Sávio’s departure represents a record sale for Manchester City, surpassing the £82 million package received from Atlético Madrid for Julián Álvarez in 2024.

The Brazilian joined City’s group from Troyes in 2024 after an impressive loan spell with Girona. He went on to make 84 appearances, score seven goals and provide 16 assists during his two seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

The transfer also gives Manchester City a significant return on their investment in the winger, who had struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-team starter.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi welcomed the arrival of the Brazil international, describing him as a player capable of bringing energy, creativity and quality to the team’s attack.

“Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” De Zerbi said, according to Tottenham. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

Sávio also revealed that his conversation with De Zerbi played an important role in his decision to move to North London.

“As soon as I spoke to the Head Coach I knew I had to come,” the winger said. He added that the manager had told him he wanted to help him reach the highest level.

Sávio enjoyed his breakthrough campaign during his loan spell at Girona, helping the Spanish club secure a historic third-place finish in La Liga and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham’s official account of his career noted that he completed 104 dribbles during that campaign, more than any other player in La Liga, before earning his move to Manchester City.

At City, he was part of the squad that secured a domestic cup double in 2026. Despite his contributions, regular first-team opportunities remained limited, with the winger starting only seven Premier League matches last season.

Sávio becomes the latest major addition to a Tottenham squad undergoing a significant rebuild under De Zerbi.

His arrival follows the club’s recruitment of players including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka. Tottenham have now spent more than £300 million in the transfer window as they seek to strengthen the squad and improve on last season’s disappointing league campaign.

The signing also represents a major statement of intent from Spurs, who will hope Sávio’s pace, dribbling ability and creativity can provide an attacking spark as they seek a stronger campaign in 2026/27.
