President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed optimism that the wave of insecurity confronting Nigeria will soon subside, assuring citizens that peace and stability are within reach.

Akpabio gave the assurance during his Easter message at the Ikot Ekpene Field Major Convention of The Apostolic Church, held at Ikot Obong Edong in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong, the Senate President acknowledged the deep pain and grief experienced by many Nigerian families as a result of violent attacks and security challenges across the country.

“Across our country, many families are passing through moments of grief and loss. Some have lost loved ones in the line of duty — our brave men and women in uniform who daily put their lives on the line to defend our nation,” Akpabio said.

He noted that others have lost fathers, mothers, children, and friends in homes, places of worship, markets, farms, and workplaces as Nigeria continues to grapple with persistent security threats.

Offering words of consolation to affected families, the Senate President emphasized that the nation shares in their sorrow.

“To such families, please know that your pain is shared by the entire nation. We mourn with you, pray for you, and honour the memory of those whose lives have been cut short. Their sacrifices can never be forgotten,” he stated.

Drawing parallels between the Christian celebration of Easter and Nigeria’s current challenges, Akpabio expressed confidence that just as the resurrection of Christ symbolizes victory over adversity, Nigeria too will triumph over insecurity.

“Just as the resurrection revealed the complete triumph of Christ, I firmly believe that soon Nigeria’s story will also reach its full and victorious conclusion: Nigeria defeats insecurity, evil and fear,” he declared.

According to him, the Easter message reinforces hope and resilience, reminding citizens that “darkness never has the final word” and that joy ultimately follows sorrow.

He urged Nigerians to reject hatred and division, and instead embrace unity, compassion, and solidarity as the country works toward a safer and more prosperous future.

“Let us renew our faith in God and in the future of our country,” Akpabio added.

In his homily, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church and host of the convention, Apostle (Dr) E. O. Akpan, also expressed optimism that through sustained prayers and collective efforts, the prevailing insecurity would give way to lasting peace and national development.
