Doris Ogala remanded as Court adjourns bail hearing to November 6
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following a courtroom commotion during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, as her legal battle over alleged cyberstalking and defamation continues.
Ogala appeared before Justice Aluko on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to face charges bordering on cyberstalking and defamation of character under Section 24(2)(a), following a complaint and prosecution instituted against her.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Her appearance followed a final warning by the court after she reportedly failed to honour two previous summonses, prompting Justice Aluko to direct her defence counsel, Marshall Abubakar, to ensure her production in court.
Following her previous absences, the judge initially ordered her remand on October 28, pending an accelerated hearing of her bail application.
Courtroom Drama
However, proceedings reportedly took a dramatic turn when Ogala allegedly began shouting and singing “Solidarity Forever” inside the courtroom, creating a commotion and testing the patience of the presiding judge.

During the accelerated bail hearing on Friday, October 30, prosecuting counsel, Tolulope Mokulu, and defence counsel, Marshall Abubakar, appeared before the court.
Abubakar urged Justice Aluko to exercise judicial discretion in favour of his client, stressing her constitutional presumption of innocence.
The defence counsel also pledged, through an affidavit, particularly paragraph 9.0, to personally ensure Ogala’s attendance at subsequent court proceedings.
Actress Apologises, Seeks Court’s Leniency
Justice Aluko, while addressing the defence counsel, expressed displeasure over Ogala’s conduct, noting that her actions could have attracted a two-month prison sentence for contempt of court.
The judge said he had expected the defence to begin proceedings with an unreserved apology for the actress’s behaviour, following which Abubakar tendered an apology on her behalf.
Ogala subsequently took the witness stand in a sober mood, knelt before the court and personally tendered an unreserved apology to the judge.
She also promised to refrain from unruly conduct and maintain decorum in future court proceedings.
In his admonition, Justice Aluko urged the actress to put aside her ego and provocative disposition, reminding her that she had not been convicted of the charges against her.
The judge expressed surprise at her conduct, observing that even governors and other prominent individuals facing trial in court conduct themselves with decorum.
He further explained that the decision to fast-track her bail application was borne out of judicial leniency and a desire to give her an opportunity to secure her release.
Bail Hearing Adjourned
After considering the relevant counter-affidavits and the apology tendered by the defendant, Justice Aluko adjourned the hearing of Ogala’s bail application to Friday, November 6, 2026.
The actress is expected to remain at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the determination of her bail application on the adjourned date.
