How Buhari’s review of appointments will hurt southwest
President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will consider the agitation on marginalisation and review federal government appointments which he claimed favour southwest the most.
He told the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria that paid him a visit in Abuja on Thursday.
The review will be done after a compendium of all appointments has been submitted to him.
“The last time a compendium of appointments was done, the south west region led the rest of the country,” he said.
He told the bishops that no ethnic group or political zone has been deliberately marginalised in the appointments made so far by his administration.
Buhari has been criticised by many who perceive he has been appointing his cronies and northern ethnic stock into the most critical positions in his government.
Recently, former President Olusegun Obasanjo criticised him in open letter for what he called clannishness.
The former president would later cite the Security Council of Nigeria as instance where you have two Yorubas, one Igbo, and four Hausas.
