Outcome of Kwankwaso’s closed-door meeting with Fayose

APC Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso had a closed-door meeting with Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose at the Government House in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

They both came out after the meeting to address voters, calling for credible and peaceful conduct of the July 14 governorship election to be contested largely by Fayose’s PDP and the APC in the state.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary  Idowu Adelusi, in a press release, said Kwankwaso, also addressed the Hausa community in the state.

The Kano former governor urged them to live in peace with their hosts and exercise their civic duties during the election.

According to the senator, elections should not be seen as a war, but that the votes of the people must count.

“Kwankwaso also decried the spate of killings in some parts of the country, noting that it was the responsibility of the government to secure the lives and property of the citizens,” the statement said.

The lawmaker has been vacillating between the APC and a couple of other parties since March, when former President Olusgun Obasanjo founded the Coalition for Nigeria Movement, which he called the third force that will take over governance fro the two major parties–the APC and PDP.

Kwankwaso, a member of the nPDP, is believed to be Obasanjo’s favorite that will be felded on the platform of the ADP Obasanjo adopted.

The lawmaker shunned his party’s national convention on Saturday to visit former VP Atiku Abubakar who is gunning for the presidency in 2019 on the platform of the PDP.

That set off speculations he was considering dumping the APC which has been ho for him at the state and national level.

Kawankwaso, however, said whatever was collectively agreed upon by members of the New PDP would inform his next line of action
