Police say investigation is ongoing on killing at Agege
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, says the police in the state are on the trail of suspects involved in the killing of a police officer, Cpl. Sunday David. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that David was allegedly killed on Jan.10 at Agege, Lagos, with one Taiwo Balogun.
“We are making efforts to track down those criminals so that we can get to the root of that matter and get to know the people behind it.
“Detectives are still working on the case; you have to be patient with us as such cases are not cases you can just close and open your eyes and pick out the suspects,’’ he said. Residents of the area recalled that trouble started when Balogun, alleged to be an internet fraudster, was approached by some people who were asking him for some money.
They said when he refused to respond to their demands, they decided not to let him go and he called on the late police officer for a help.
“On getting to the scene, David, while trying to shoot in the air, allegedly shot two persons who later died at the hospital,’’ one of the residents said. They said further that David and Balogun tried to escape in a car, but some people ran after them by a motorcycle and allegedly killed them
