Accountant-General Madein clarifies no directive for workers to change salary accounts
The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, has reassured federal workers that no directive has been issued to change their salary accounts. This clarification follows misleading reports suggesting such a requirement, emphasizing that any account change is a personal decision.
The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, has clarified that no directive has been issued to federal workers regarding changes to their salary accounts.
This statement comes in response to viral reports suggesting that employees were instructed to switch their salary accounts to specific financial institutions registered on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform.
In a statement released by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General, Madein emphasized that the IPPIS office prioritizes the welfare of workers and would not issue any directives that could mislead or cause unnecessary panic.
Madein noted that any request to change a salary account is a personal decision made by the individual worker, adding, “The IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to this effect as there is no reason to do so.”

Furthermore, Madein urged financial institutions to adopt strategies that would enhance customer confidence and ensure they fulfill their obligations to employees whose salaries are managed through their services.
Madein highlighted that there are regulatory agencies responsible for assessing the health and viability of financial institutions, expressing her confidence that these agencies are performing their duties effectively.
For workers with legitimate reasons to change their salary accounts, Madein advised them to adhere to the official procedures outlined on the IPPIS platform.
