Agbaje dumps PDP, backs ‘Awalokan’ project
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Jimi Agbaje, has dumped his party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general election.
In a message, Agbaje said he’s joining the APC to support the presidential ambition of former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu.
“I’m fully back in APC to join our Southwest leaders as well as progressive Family and friends in Lagos State. The awalokan 2023 is a project that both young and old in all the nooks and crannies of the Southwest should be embraced.

“I believe it’s time to support and also to appreciate Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TINUBU as next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the forthcoming Presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shortly after the governorship election in March 2019, which he lost to Babajide Sanwo-Olu of APC, reports went viral that Mr. Agbaje had dumped the PDP for APC over differences with party elders.
However, the PDP candidate swiftly through a press statement issued by Mr. Oboagwina, who was Director of Media of his campaign organisation, denied the reports.
