Amorim Defends Alejandro Garnacho After Manchester United’s Defeat to Nottingham Forest
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has come to the defense of Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho following his side’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Despite United’s dominance in attack, registering 24 shots on target, they failed to find the back of the net, succumbing to a solitary goal from former Red Devils winger Anthony Elanga.
Garnacho, who was one of United’s most active players on the night, recorded six attempts—more than any other player on the pitch.
However, his finishing and dribbling let him down, adding to his frustration and that of the team.
Addressing Garnacho’s struggles, Amorim highlighted the player’s effort and determination but acknowledged that the youngster might be trying too hard to make an impact.
“He is trying. Sometimes you have one of those days when you are doing the right things, but in the final third, we were not that good. That can happen,” Amorim said in his post-match interview.

“The most important thing in the game is when he needs to run back, he is running back. Of course, we want a player who is one-on-one, but sometimes he is trying too much.
He has [Patrick] Dorgu to make a move, but I think he wants to help the team and is doing his best.”
Despite his frustrating night at the City Ground, Garnacho has been one of United’s standout performers this season.
The 19-year-old has scored eight goals and provided eight assists across all competitions, cementing his place as an important attacking asset for the club.
Manchester United’s inability to convert their chances against Nottingham Forest continues a troubling pattern of inefficiency in front of goal.
The defeat piles further pressure on Amorim, whose side has struggled for consistency throughout the campaign.
As United look to bounce back from this setback, Amorim will be hoping that Garnacho and the rest of the attacking unit can rediscover their clinical edge in the coming fixtures.
