Amotekun resists soldiers attempt to prevent enforcement of anti-grazing law in Ondo

The South West Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, in Akure, resisted attempts by some soldiers to obstruct the enforcement of anti-grazing law in Ondo State. Amotekun operatives had a disagreement with soldiers from the 32 Artillery Brigade on Tuesday evening over the arrest of over 100 cows for violating the state’s anti-grazing law.

Officials of Amotekun, on receiving distress calls from farmers in Oke Aro area of Akure that cows are destroying crops in their farms, intervened urgently, and arrested 100 cows.

However, some soldiers moved into the area to prevent the arrested of the cows, protesting that they are owned by their officers in the barracks.

Meanwhile, the Amotekun boss said that the dispute had been resolved, noting that it was a minor disagreement. He said that the soldiers eventually allowed the arrest of the cows which were taken away by the Amotekun operatives.

According to him: “it has been resolved amicably. It was the arrested herders that hid under the soldiers to cause misunderstanding between the security outfits. The cows have been released to us.”
