APC Convention: aspirants for national chairman meet in Abuja Thursday
The 11 notable aspirants for the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will meeting in Abuja on Thursday for deliberations on the party’s national convention in February 2022, and the future of the party in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
The 11 notable aspirants for the APC national chairman include Ali Modu Sheriff, former Governor of Borno State; Saliu Mustapha, former Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC); Tanko Al Makura, former Governor of Nasarawa State; Mohammed Sani Musa, Senator representing Niger East in the Ninth National Assembly; George Akume, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, former Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, former Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Sunny Moniedafe, former Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State; former Danjuma Goje of Gombe State, and Mohammed Saidu Etsu.
The APC Press Corps in a statement in Abuja on Sunday by the chairman of the Annual Public Lecture Summit, Babatunde Ayeni, indicated that the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, will deliver a paper titled “APC Beyond 2023: The Tasks Ahead – The Role of Stakeholders.”
The Chairman of the Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State is chairman of the meeting on Thursday.
Ayeni emphasized that the summit is to provide opportunities for all aspirants for the party’s national chairman to express their views, present their plans and programmes on how to move the party forward before the National Convention in February 2022.
