Binance Charity in partnership with Utiva, a technology workforce development firm that helps people learn premium technology skills virtually and physically, is offering tech training and scholarships to over 50,000 youth across Africa.

The partnership is the first pivot of the fully funded scholarship program for 1,000 Africans and 40 young Africans that participated at a 3-hour introductory training on Blockchain Technology and Software Development held in Lagos recently.

Speaking at the training, the Marketing Director, West Africa, Binance, Emmanuel Ebanehita said the Binance Scholar Programme is offering 1,000 scholarships to learn technology and soft skills, along with Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency.

“Our goal for this project is to organize free weekly masterclasses to offer training to 50,000 Africans from 20 countries within a year. At the end of the training, students will undergo a 1-month virtual apprenticeship program where they will be required to work on 2 real-life projects/business cases.”

According to him, the training and scholarship in tech offers opportunities to the students to understand local and global economic challenges, noting that the training when completed will create job opportunities for future leaders to build stronger economies and support the inclusion of decentralized financial tools to encourage long-term growth and more excellent stability.

Also speaking at the event, Project Manager, Utiva, Adestola Aibare said youths between 18 and 35 years old can partake of this fully funded initiative by Binance Charity project, and must apply for the program after the call for applications.

She said the education program is aimed at young people within the age range of 18 – 35 from over 19 countries across Africa.

“We are working directly with over 50 youth-led organizations in Africa to engage their community as well as other Africans who will be required to take the Utiva pre-training virtual assessment where they are evaluated based on a number of criteria.

“Once selected, they are accepted into the program and boarded on the Utiva LMS to partake in this training. These will help put learners on the right track toward a lucrative and long-term career in the tech industry

“And then they have the opportunity to partake of a small cohort of about four to five, where they have a life trainer in a virtual class on the weekends. So they go through self-paced learning during the week. Afterwards, they are able to consolidate thoughts during the weekend with a live trainer so they get to work on real life business cases and all of this for the period of one year.
