Buhari condemns Ondo church attack
President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday condemned the attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, saying darkness will never overcome the light.
Explosion erupted at the church on Sunday during service, killing many worshipers and leaving several others injured.
Buhari asserted that Nigeria will never succumb to the dictates of the evil and wicked people.
The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, declared, “No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome the light. Nigeria will eventually win.”
The President maintained that only fiends from the nether region could have conceived and carried out such a dastardly act, saying that eternal sorrow awaits them both on earth here and ultimately in the hereafter.
President Buhari mourned the dead, condoling with their families, the Catholic Church, and the Government of Ondo State.
The President also directed emergency agencies to swing into action and bring succour to the wounded.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State had in a statement on Sunday declared:“It is a black Sunday in Owo. Our hearts are heavy. “Our peace and tranquility have been attacked by the enemies of the people. This is a personal loss, an attack on our dear state.”
