Buhari, Makinde mourn ex-Ondo, Oyo MILAD Usman
President Muhammadu Buhari and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday mourned the death of one-time Military Administrator of Ondo and Oyo states, Colonel Ahmed Usman.
Family sources said Usman, aged 70 years, died around 3:00 a.m. yesterday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, during an illness.
His body has been moved to his village, Okura-Lafia, Kogi State, for burial according to Muslim rites.
He was the military administrator of Ondo State from August 1994 to August 1996.
He governed Oyo from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, President, Buhari hailed the contributions of the late Usman to national peace and unity.
Also yesterday, Makinde paid tribute to the former military administrator, describing the death of the ex-MILAD, who served the state between 1996 and 1998, as painful, praying to God to grant repose to his soul.
The governor expressed his condolence to the family of the late Usman and the government and people of Kogi State, praying that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
