The Premier League Golden Glove is an annual association football award presented to the Premier League goalkeeper with the most clean sheets. In football, a team’s defense or goalkeeper is said to “keep a clean sheet” if they prevent their opponent from scoring any goal throughout the course of a game. From it’s inception during the 2004/05 season until the 2015/16 season, it was known as the Barclays Golden Glove, and from the 2017/18 season to the 2019/20 season, it was known as the Cadbury Golden Glove. The Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Golden Glove has been awarded since the 2020/21 season.

Since 2005, Čech and Joe Hart have won the award four times each, with Čech being the only goalkeeper to have won the award with two different teams (Chelsea and Arsenal)

Petr Čech of Chelsea won the first Premier League Golden Glove in 2005. The current record for most clean sheets in a single Premier League season is Čech’s 24 in a single season.

Čech’s 24 clean sheets that season also meant that Chelsea holds the record for the fewest goals conceded in a single Premier League season. That season Chelsea was scored only 15 times, which is a record that could be hard to break.

Manchester City was tipped to break the record last season, but failed.

The defensive partnership of John Stones and Ruben Dias was key in City’s title triumph last season.

Manchester City’s keeper, Ederson kept 18 clean sheets and was scored 32 times during the course of the season which means Chelsea still holds the record for the most clean sheets and fewest goals conceded in a single Premier League season.

The Chelsea Squad of the 2004/05 season, which was coached by Jose Mourinho, was simply too good.

These two Chelsea records are almost impossible to break, but you never know what could happen, let’s wait and see.
