Court gives tenant 2 months to vacate apartment
An Area Court sitting in Ilorin, on Monday gave a tenant, Musbahu Orilowo, two months to vacate his apartment over his refusal to pay the rent for two years.
The presiding judge, AbdulQadir Umar, gave the order on the request of the landlord.
Umar told Orilowo to pay all his two years rent, and vacate the apartment on or before Dec. 31.
The applicant, Abdullahi Hameed, had earlier told the court that the tenant had stopped paying his house rent for more than two years.
He pleaded with the court to ask the tenant to pay the two years rent, and order him to vacate the apartment by November ending.
Hammed alleged that in November 2021, a quit notice was issued to the tenant, but he refused to vacate the house nor pay the rent.
The respondent, however, acknowledged that he owed the complainant two years rent of N28,400, but wanted the landlord to give him till December to settle the debt.
