Elected politicians in the opposition parties across the country seem to have abandoned governance to focus more on joining the ruling All Progressive Congress Party, APC.
Their main aims are to seek tenure elongation and remain relevant in the scheme of things, thereby, ditching reasons why they were voted to represent their constituents.
Political parties are formed for several reasons, including:
Representation of Interests, Policy Implementation, Power and Governance, Accountability and Oversight, Citizen Engagement, and
Ideological Expression.
These reasons highlight the importance of political parties in democratic systems, allowing for diverse perspectives and representation.
But everyday, it is either a member of the national assembly, state assembly or a governor cross carpeting from a political platform to another without clear factor determining their position order than self interest.
This cross carpeting has frustrated citizens, and their political followers who are yet to understand why most have resolved to quit a party half way into their tenures that availed them the opportunity to sail as politicians.
The recent wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling party, APC, has become a source of intense debate, with many questioning whether the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, and Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, also tilting towards perfecting their own decamping to the ruling party.
The electoral umpire, Judiciary and anti graft agency, have been used to force a palp through the throat of anyone who refuses to join the geng gangs in power.
The recent defections have further fueled these allegations, with many wondering if INEC’s, Judiciary and anti graft agency, actions are contributing to the opposition’s woes.

If they are perceived as biased, it could erode trust in the electoral process and undermine the legitimacy of future elections.
Votes in 2027, may not count if these elements continue to perforate the line of justice
A notable politician once said sometimes ago that once you cross over to the ruling APC, your sins are forgiven irrespective of the peoples opinion against such politician.
The fear factor of bias and oppression attributed to the electoral umpire, Judiciary and anti graft agency, is perceived as a key reason for sudden moves of a member of opposition from their parties to the ruling party.
Whereas, the country is facing economic challenges, Insecurity and Infrastructure decay, these elected officers have no plans to proffer solutions with policies needed to make a change, but are only keen on their return to power when their tenures elapsed.
The defections could further weaken the opposition and political future of the generations to come, making it challenging for them to cope with.
Nigerians are facing uncertainty and wondering who will represent them in policy drives as politicians continue to float personal interest against the peoples wish.
The only thing left for electorates is to decamp to the ruling party, that way nobody will worry nobody.
