Kano State made history on Thursday when the House of Assembly approved the appointment of Dije Aboki as the first female Chief Judge of the state.

According to a statement captured by our correspondence via their official Twitter account, Kano State achieved a significant milestone on Thursday as the House of Assembly approved the appointment of Dije Aboki as the first female Chief Judge of the state.

Upon the delivery of Governor Abba Yusuf’s letter to the Assembly on Thursday, Aboki’s nomination Aboki’s nomination was legally accepted.

During the plenary session, the Speaker of the House, Ismail Falgore, read out the appointment letter.

Aboki’s journey to becoming the Chief Judge commenced when Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of the state, designated her as the Acting Chief Judge back in March.

The Speaker expressed his admiration for Aboki’s appointment and urged her to continue rendering her dedicated service to the judiciary.

He said “We extend our congratulations to Dije Aboki on this historic appointment.” We firmly believe that her vast expertise and exceptional abilities will contribute to the progress and advancement of the legal system in our state.

We implore her to uphold her commitment to her responsibilities and collaborate with the administration in promoting the development of Kano State.

Following the Speaker’s approval of the nominations of three additional commissioners—Ibrahim Fagge, Ibrahim Namadi, and Amina Abdullahi-Sani—through a rigorous screening process, Aboki’s appointment was formally concluded.

The Speaker emphasized the significance of these candidates supporting the government’s endeavors to further the development agenda of Kano State.
