Explaining the motivation behind the high-stakes bet, Drake said he increased his stake after a private exchange with renowned South African DJ, Black Coffee.
“Black Coffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise my stakes,” he wrote.
The wager has generated widespread reactions online, with football fans reviving discussions about the so-called “Drake curse” the popular belief that teams or athletes backed by the rapper often suffer unexpected defeats.
Drake is known for placing large bets on major sporting events, including football, basketball and mixed martial arts, with his wagers frequently attracting global attention.
His latest bet has added extra intrigue to the World Cup knockout fixture, as supporters eagerly await whether Canada can justify the rapper’s confidence or if South Africa will pull off an upset.
