Manchester United have had a patchy run of form after their shocking defeat to Sheffield United. A result that has left many to question the title credentials of the Old Trafford club.

United have gone ahead to secure 5 points out of the available 12 points in their last four games.

Their latest draw 3-3 against Everton at Old Trafford has left the Red Devils boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claiming that his Manchester United side are not in the English Premier League (EPL) title race.

However, Solskjaer’s above claim has been viewed as a “silly comment” by United ex-star Paul Parker who has gone ahead to accuse the Red Devils boss of damaging his team’s prospect with his above comment.

For Parker, the United manager has only succeeded in adding pressure to his side with the “silly comment” about their title prospects.

While United who currently maintain the second position have continued to falter, their “noisy neighbours” and local rivals in Manchester City have grabbed the initiative to snatch the top spot from United and have since gone 5 points clear and can possibly extend it to 8 points if they win their outstanding match.

Though National Daily understands that Solskjaer’s side look amongst the most well-placed to challenge Man City for the top prize, but the Norwegian manager has recently chosen to play down their chances.

Solskjaer’s claim has sadly been seen as a negative tool that could risk damaging the confidence and drive of United players by the Red Devils ex-star Paul Parker, who won two straight Premier League titles with the club in the early 90s.

Parker speaking to The Sun maintained that: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying that Manchester United were not in the title race was a silly comment to make.

“You have got to keep players as positive as you can and tell them they can win the Premier League.

“Some of those players with their egos will be thinking that they will win things at Manchester United, if a manager does not believe it is the case, how is a player ever going to?

“Instead of taking the pressure off people, he is adding it.”

Solskjaer’s expressed his frustrations after his side’s disappointing 3-3 draw at home to Everton last weekend:

“We’re not talking about winning titles,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports after the game.

“We’ve come a long way, this team. We shouldn’t even be considered as title-chasers.

“That’s one for you [the media] – we’ve got to be better as a team and let’s see where we end up. Going forward, we need to stop conceding easy goals.

“They had three shots that hit between the goals and they scored three goals. It’s disappointing. And when it’s in the last minute of added time it’s very disappointing.

“I wouldn’t blame anyone on the goals but we know we can defend better.”

The above comment has since been widely viewed as damaging United’s challenge for the title by Parker.
