Failed Attack: Military kill 15 Boko Haram in Borno

An early morning attack against men of the Operation Lafiya Dole, on Friday by Boko Haram insurgents led to the killing of no fewer than 15 terrorists.
National Daily learnt that the military engaged the terrorists for about three-hour around Rann area of Borno State.
Military sources indicated that the battle ensued at 6 am till about 9 am after the insurgents launched a surprised attack n military location.
The 3 Battalion and 112 Task Force Battalion that are stationed in the area, were said to have responded promptly, killing s many and wounded several others.
Four soldiers were said to have been wounded in action, but were swiftly evacuated by air ambulance from the 22 Brigade.
However, a large cache of arms and ammunition recovered from the terrorists included two AK47 rifles, four FN rifles, one M21 rifle, 110 X 7.62MM NATO ammunition, 20 X 7.62MM special,, 40 X M21 rounds, 4 X FN extra magazine and two locally made explosives.
It would be recalled since the military declared victory over Boko Haram and decimation of Sambisa Forest, Friday’s attack is the first major attempt to attack military formation.
The attack also came a day after the purportedly dead terrorist leader, Abubakar Shekau, boasted in a new video, claiming that Boko Haram has not been defeated, urging the military authorities to repent.
However, in a swift reaction, the Army spokesperson, Brig Gen Sani Usman, described them as a piece of propaganda that should be disregarded.
