Family reveals cause of Mary Habila’s death, exonerates David Umahi
David Umahi Exonerated As Family Confirms Mary Habila Di£d of Cardiac Arrest Linked To Heart Condition
The family of Mary Habila has confirmed that she died following a cardiac arrest linked to a congenital heart condition she had lived with for years.
The clarification effectively counters earlier speculation surrounding the circumstances of her death and exonerates Minister of Works, David Umahi, from any suggestion of responsibility for her passing.
In a statement, the family said Mary had been diagnosed with a hole in her heart and had faced significant health challenges throughout her life.
Despite her condition, the family said she remained courageous, hopeful and committed to her faith, while positively impacting those around her.
“She remained hopeful and continued to touch the lives of those around her with her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit,” the family said
Mary was raised in Deeper Life Bible Church, where her father serves as a pastor. She was an active member of the church’s Children’s Church and later joined the youth church during her teenage years.
She also sang in the children’s choir before leaving home.
While living in Abuja, Mary attended Christ Embassy and other Pentecostal churches close to her residence because of the distance to the nearest Deeper Life Bible Church.
The family said Mary began her primary education in Kaduna town before she was transferred to LGEA Primary School following her parents’ relocation.
Despite receiving medical attention, prayers and support from relatives and loved ones, her health condition eventually became critical.
The family said her death had left a deep void among those who knew her.
“Though her life was cut short, Mary will always be remembered for her strength in the face of adversity, the love she shared, and the lasting impact she made on everyone blessed to know her. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
Autopsy Conducted
Meanwhile, a source familiar with the matter said an autopsy had been conducted and that the results had been submitted to the police.
The family’s confirmation of cardiac arrest as the cause of death is expected to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mary’s passing, while the police are in possession of the autopsy findings.
