Festus Keyamo reacts after Doyin Okupe says Obi won’t attend debates boycotted by Tinubu and Atiku
As the race for the presidency heats up in the Nigerian political landscape, chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Festus Keyamo has taken to social media to react to the announcement made by the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Doyin Okupe regarding Peter Obi’s decision to boycott future presidential debates.
For those who are not aware, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, Dr. Okupe announced that Obi will no longer attend presidential debates where the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his counterpart from the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar are absent. Dr. Okupe also insisted that his candidate will no longer engage in debates with surrogates or running mates of both men.
His decision came as result of the absence of both Tinubu, and Atiku from the just-concluded ARISE TV Town Hall Meeting which was held in Abuja on Sunday night.
Reacting to the development via his verified Twitter handle a few hours ago, Keyamo, who is the Spokesman for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, mocked the Labour Party candidate for saying he will not attend debates boycotted by Asiwaju.
He wrote; “All of a sudden, it is now about the absence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I thought it was all about talking to the Nigerian people directly. What an experienced man can see whilst sitting down, an inexperienced man will not see from the top of an Iroko tree!”
