The Minister of Transportation, Saidu Ahmed Alkali, has announced the completion of 135 road projects across northern Nigeria, as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure renewal programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, at a two-day interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation, the Minister provided an update on the scale of ongoing infrastructure development in the region.
According to Alkali, in addition to the 135 completed road projects, 216 more road construction projects are currently in progress across northern states. He also disclosed that 312 road maintenance projects have been successfully delivered, while 50 additional maintenance works are ongoing.
“These projects are part of a deliberate effort by the Federal Government to bridge infrastructural gaps, boost regional connectivity, and stimulate economic growth,” he said.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alkali revealed that 14 road projects have been completed and commissioned.
Other major developments in the FCT include the successful delivery of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network Project, the construction and rehabilitation of several primary and secondary schools, and the commissioning of three modern bus terminals aimed at improving urban mass transit.
He reiterated that beyond the northern region, road construction, rehabilitation, and expansion projects are ongoing across the country in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes national infrastructure development as a key pillar of the administration’s socioeconomic transformation goals.
