A Member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Friday in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State held a peaceful protest, warning that the 2023 general elections will not hold in the Southeast if Nnamdi Kanu remains in DSS custody.

The protest, which was a coordinated one, was held in the three major local government areas of Aba North, Aba South and Osisioma LGAs respectively.

There were unconfirmed reports that the protest also held in Ugwunagbo, Ukwa West and Ukwa East.

Our correspondent gathered that the IPOB members had wanted to take to the commercial city to hold the protest, but had to reschedule their plans when news filtered that security agencies in the state operating in Aba got intelligence of the planned protest and had mounted their intelligence units at some strategic spots.

It was gathered that instead of converging on an earlier agreed venue in Aba before hitting the city center, the pro-Biafra group chose to hold the protest at different locations off the city center taking advantage of the deplorable nature of the roads which would hinder personnel of security agencies from accessing their venues.
