Fubara reassures Rivers residents amid Eid Message
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has assured residents that concrete steps are underway to stabilise governance and revive the state’s economy, even as political tensions and security concerns continue to challenge development.
Fubara’s message was conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, as part of his statement to commemorate the Eid-al-Adha celebration.
The governor used the occasion to call on the Muslim community in Rivers State and beyond to embrace the core values of the festival — sacrifice, obedience, faith, and compassion.
“The festival commemorates the deep devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command,” the message read. “It is observed globally with solemn prayers, animal sacrifices, and sharing with family, friends, and the less fortunate.”

Fubara urged Muslims to use the spiritual period as a moment of reflection and prayer for peace, unity, and national prosperity, especially amid Nigeria’s ongoing battles with insecurity and economic hardship.
“Without a shared vision and determined action, meaningful progress cannot be achieved,” he said. “I appeal to Muslims to show kindness to the needy, reach out in reconciliation, forgive past wrongs, and build stronger community ties.”
The governor acknowledged the sacrifices and patience of Rivers people, noting that while many aspirations remain unfulfilled — due largely to political instability — some significant progress has been made.
He emphasized that his administration is actively implementing measures to restore effective governance and breathe new life into the state’s economy. “Your concerns are being addressed with practical solutions,” the statement assured.
Fubara concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare and safety of all residents, urging continued prayers for peace and development in Rivers State.
He extended warm wishes to the Muslim faithful for a joyful and spiritually uplifting Eid.
This message comes in the wake of Fubara’s controversial suspension by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, following the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. The federal government cited a prolonged political crisis and attacks on oil installations as reasons for the extraordinary action.
Despite the turbulence, Fubara remains defiant in his message of hope and unity, insisting that Rivers State will overcome its challenges through resilience and collective effort.
