Golden moments at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea set to seal £155m triple transfer deals this week
Chelsea who were on Sunday stunned by Leeds United could have seen that as an eye-opener with the urgent need for further reinforcements after what has already been a busy summer.
And it is believed that the Blues could be responding to their latest poor outing last weekend at Elland Road by splashing the cash on three more new additions following their humiliation on Sunday where they lost their unbeaten start to the season with goals from Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison enough to sink Thomas Tuchel’s men, and may have prompted the London side to dip back into the transfer market.
National Daily recalls that the Blues have already spent more than £150m since Todd Boehly’s takeover, with Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly joined by youngsters Carney Chukwuemeka, Gaga Slonina and Cesare Casadei. However, if reports this week are to be believed, that figure could essentially double by September 1.
It is believed that one of the moves which appears to have been gathering pace is the deal to bring former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the Premier League from Barcelona.
According to the report reaching National Daily from The Sun, Chelsea could land the Gabon international for £25m with the hope to reunite Aubameyang with Tuchel considering that the 33-year-old Barcelona star played some of his best football under the current Blues boss during their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang is not the only forward on Chelsea’s radar, with the available report claiming that though Everton may have already rejected the Blues bid for homegrown talent Anthony Gordon, but The Telegraph had further reported that an offer of £60m has been made for the 21-year-old.
The third potential deal on the cards is at center-back, where Chelsea will be without Kalidou Koulibaly for their next league game after he was sent off at Leeds. Wesley Fofana is the primary target after the Blues missed out on the likes of Presnel Kimpembe and Jules Kounde, with a fee for the Leicester City man set at around £70m.
Meanwhile, Leicester City’s boss had been quick to claim that Fofana’s absence from their weekend defeat against Southampton was due to the fact that the youngster is “not in the right frame of mind” to feature.
