Hamzat coasting home to victory across Ifako Ijaiye LGA
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ifako Ijaiye Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat and his Vice Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele has been re-elected for a second term in office.
Following the aftermath of the Saturday July 12,2025 council poll, the incumbent chairman Hamzat coast home to victory, having garnered much votes across various wards in the local government.
In Ward A,Unit 027 Hamzat’s polling unit — APC polled 335 votes, leaving the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with just one and zero votes respectively.
Out of 848 registered voters, 344 participated in the election, with 8 votes was declared void. Voting was at the said unit was concluded at 3:23 p.m.
Similarly, at Ward B, Unit 023 which is Vice Chairman’s polling unit — APC garnered 249 votes, while PDP and LP had one vote each.
Speaking after casting his vote, Hamzat expressed optimism and praised the peaceful conduct of the election. “ I believe, by the special grace of the Almighty God, we are going to come out victorious.”
Hon. Temitope Adewale the Lagos House of Assembly member representing Ifako Ijaiye constituency 1 who cast his vote at polling unit 005 (Jagunmolu) ward F, was able to deliver his ward for Hamzat as APC polled 340 votes,PDP – 5 votes,LP – 1 vote,NRM- 1 vote, while 2 votes was declared void.
At Dr. Adekunle Olayinka’s polling unit Hamzat also won convincingly having polled 568 votes, while the PDP candidate garnered only 2 votes. Labour Party and YPP candidates received 1 vote each.
