Veteran Nollywood actress and social activist, Hilda Dokubo, has strongly condemned the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Taking to her Instagram page, the outspoken actress described the move as “shameless” and accused the federal government of attempting to seize control of the economic heartbeat of the state.
Dokubo questioned the rationale behind the decision, arguing that Rivers State had experienced peace for the past two years. She suggested that the declaration was a political maneuver aimed at benefiting certain interests rather than addressing genuine security concerns.

“State of emergency because for two years we have had peace! State of emergency because you want to capture the economic soul of Rivers State! State of emergency because of one man? Shameless! Perhaps Mr. President should say he wants to annex Rivers State,” she wrote.
Her reaction comes amidst growing controversy and public outcry over the federal government’s decision. Critics argue that the move could further escalate tensions in the oil-rich state, which has recently witnessed political disputes involving key stakeholders.
The declaration has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning whether the federal government’s actions are in the best interest of Rivers State or a calculated attempt to exert political dominance.
