I love stealing, suspect boasts
The Niger State Police Command has arrested two robbers who specialised at robbing people of their motorcycles.
Two armed robbery suspects arrested by policemen in Niger State after attacking a victim in the state.
The two robbers identified as Ibrahim Aliyu, 18, and Illiyasu, 29, allegedly robbed one Adamu Mohammed of his motorcycle.
However, one of the suspects, Shehu Illiyasu, it was learnt was said to have shown unrepentant spirit, saying he enjoys stealing and would do it again if another opportunity comes his way.
Illiyasu explained that the economic hardship are some of the compelling factors that lured him into robbery noting that he has since been enjoying it.
“I started robbing because I did not have a job. I am an illiterate and nobody has supported me including my parents. I will only quit robbery if someone can buy me commercial motorcycle to work with.”
Asked if he will steal again if not supported, he retorted: “As it is now, I will still steal again because that is the only means of livelihood for me now. There is too much suffering in the country, he added.
However, the Niger State Police Command’s spokesperson, Abigail Unaeze, explained that the suspects were arrested after they had distress from the victim, adding that the police would do the needful to ensure that individuals who indulge in this kind of act are mopped up.
