Ifeanyi Ubah escapes assassination as thugs attack YPP supporters
The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, on Wednesday escaped assassination when thugs, identified as youths of Utah Community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, attacked the Project Inspection Team of the party. Some members of the team were seriously injured. Fortunately, Ifeanyi Ubah was not in the convoy of the team at the time of attack by the youths.
The inspection team was said to have made an advanced movement to prepare the arena for the inspection of one of Ubah’s constituency projects in the community, but some youths of Ugah, said to be the home of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Andy Uba, attacked the advance team.
The Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Ugah was said to have immediately deployed a police team on receiving the information.
Legal Aide to Ifeanyi Ubah, Anyanwu Benard, had narrated that a group of young men led by the owner of one Evergreen Bar, in Ugah community, had confronted him and his team and ordered that they vacate the healthcare centre.
The aide complained to the police that they gave him a serious beating before he could escape from the scene to the Police Area Command to make a complaint.
