Insecurity: Reps agrees with Senate on impeachment of Buhari
The minority caucus of the House of Representatives, after a closed-door meeting with the minority caucus of the Senate in the National Assembly, agreed on the issuance of six weeks ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the rising insecurity in the country or face impeachment.
The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, disclosed that the federal lawmakers will commence the gathering of signatures for the impeachment of the President if he fails to address the insecurity situation in Nigeria.
Elumelualso decried the general state of the nation, which include the dwindling economy, depreciating exchange rate, aviation crisis, ASUU strike, and others.
The Senate minority caucus had walked out on the floor of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly after the point of order raised by the Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda, urging the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, to consider the impeachment of President Buhari because of the security situation in the country, was turned down.
