International Telecoms Union holds 3rd Steering Committee Meeting in Abuja
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Africa Network holds its third Steering Committee Meeting organized by the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja, on November 8, 2016.
Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, in his opening remarks, welcomed the various participants from other African Countries and spoke on the growth of the Nigerian Telecoms sector.
Profesasor Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Commission, in his speech, stated that the NCC would ensure that the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) returns as an ITU Centre of excellence after the 2014-2018 cycle and that the Commission would continue to support DBI’s programmes, projects and policies towards making it one of the outstanding ITU Centres of Excellence in Africa and globally.
Also present at the event was the Administrator of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde and other senior management of the Commission.
The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) was launched in the wake of the phenomenal worldwide growth of the Telecommunications (Telecoms) and Information Communications Technology (ICT) sectors, which was especially well noted in Nigeria; led by the successful auction of Digital Mobile Licensing by Nigerian Communications Commission.
