JAMB tourney: Unilorin tackles Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic in final
University of Ilorin will tomorrow, at the University of Ilorin pitch, take on Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic in the final of this year’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) football competition, in a repeat of last year’s final.
Both institutions squared up in the final of the 2018 edition, with the Zaria based institution winning the match by a lone goal.
Yesterday, University of Ilorin defeated Federal College of Education, Gombe by a lone goal in the first semi-final, while Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic outscored Ekiti State University, Ado 2-1 to qualify for the final.
University of Ilorin earlier defeated Federal Polytechnic of Bauchi 4-3 in the quarter-final, while Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic defeated Federal Polytechnic, Ede, by 4–1.
Federal College of Education, Gombe will play Ekiti State University Ado in the third place match by 10.00am tomorrow.
Expected to grace the final tomorrow are the Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who will be the Special Guest of Honour. Others are the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba, the Chairman of JAMB Board, Dr. Emmanuel Aguzie Ndukwe, JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, while the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem will be the Host.
The occasion will be chaired by the Minister of Yuoth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare.
