Jos DisCo woos Dangote, promise 24 hours electricity supply

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), has wooed Dangote Cement Company in Gboko Benue State assuring them of 24 hours power supply.

The Managing Director of JED, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, gave the assurance in Gboko recently during a visit to the management of the Dangote Cement Company.

The visit was aimed at addressing the issues that led to Dangote boycott of the regular electricity consumption, our correspondent reports.

Speaking at the courtesy visit, Mohammed promised to prioritize electricity supply to the cement company for optimal production of Cement.

According to him: “I am here to see you and to acquaint myself with the challenges and to see how we can quickly tackle these challenges with the hope of taking supply from us.

“I am aware that the Cement manufacturing firm has been having some challenges with the supply from our energy company but I promise to explore ways to resolve these challenges.

“Before I came here we had already commenced the process of resolving the problem. I have spoken to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), to mobilise the Mobitra back to the site.

“We have secured a mobile breaker and we are putting together Isolators at the explosive sites as well as talking with the TCN to conduct proper relay coordination to enable more available and reliable supply”, Mohammed said.

In his response, the Plant Manager, Mr Louis Raj, who was visibly elated by the visit said that the cement company could take up to 30 to 40 KWT of energy if the supply is properly stabilised.

He commended the staff of Jos Electricity Distribution Company for their expeditious resolution of faults.

However, a statement signed by the  Head, Corporate Communications, Jos Electricity Distribution Company,  Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, revealed that the new JED boss has been visiting prime customers of the energy company encouraging and rebuilding the company’s relationship with them.
