King Sunny Ade not kidnapped, says son amid family feud
Dayo Adegeye, son and manager of legendary Nigerian musician, King Sunny Ade, has publicly confirmed that the music icon is safe and in good health, debunking swirling rumours of his alleged abduction.
The statement follows serious claims made by Damilola, one of Sunny Ade’s daughters, who alleged that her father had been kidnapped by individuals working closely with him — with Dayo reportedly leading the conspiracy.
According to Damilola, King Sunny Ade has been kept away from his family, and all attempts to reach him have failed.
However, in a swift reaction, Dayo described the allegations as baseless and malicious.

He insisted that there is no truth to the claims, stating that the veteran musician has been actively performing and attending public events.
“We want to assure the public that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound,” Dayo said in a statement. “There is no truth to the kidnapping rumor, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.”
He emphasized that the King of World Beats remains focused on his music and legacy, and is in good health and high spirits.
Despite the assurance, the situation has exposed a deeper rift within the Adegeye family.
Damilola has since leveled fresh allegations against Dayo, accusing him of financial impropriety and forcing the aging musician to perform while in distress.
While the family drama unfolds publicly, fans and supporters of the music legend are being urged to remain calm and await further verified updates.
