Lagos Assembly appoint new Clerk
The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed Mr. Sanni Azeez as the acting Clerk of the House.
This was announced by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa at recent plenary,citing the involvement of the principal officers in the choice of Sanni above other contenders.
The appointment was informed by the pre-retirement leave embarked upon by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Olusegun Abiru, who would be retiring in August, 2016, when he would clock the mandatory retirement age of 60 in the Lagos State civil service.
Mr. Azeez Sanni was born on the 10TH of August 1961 in Lagos Island. He attended St. Jude Primary School, Ebute- Metta in 1967-1973; he proceeded to Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege for his Secondary education in 1973-1978(WAEC), 1978-1980 (HSC). He also attended University of Ibadan in 1980-1983 where he obtained BSc in Sociology, (Second Class Upper) and thereafter obtained M.SC in Industrial Sociology in 1984-1985 in the same University.

He was employed as a classroom teacher in Sari Iganmu Secondary School on 11th September 1985-1988 as master grade II GL 08 and has his appointment confirmed two years later. He transferred his service to the mainstream to the Admin Cadre as Admin Officer II GL 08.
Mr. Sanni has worked in various government agencies and parastatals. Notable among such are; Ministry of Finance, September 1988-1999, Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture, 1999-2004. Ministry of Establishment Training and Pension, Jan- Sept 2004 and was later appointed as Secretary to the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board from Sept 2004- March 2009 before he was deployed to the Lagos State House of Assembly in March 2009 initially as Assistant Director (PRS) and later as Deputy Director Admin and Human Resources before his appointment as the Acting Clerk. He is married with children
