Makinde imposes night-time motorcycle ban to tackle insecurity in Oyo (Video)
Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has announced a restriction on motorcycle operations across the state between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of efforts to address rising security concerns and strengthen the fight against criminal activities.
The governor disclosed this in an Executive Order issued on Friday, stating that the measure forms part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance public safety and curb insecurity in the state.
Makinde also reassured residents that his administration remains fully committed to securing the release of the recently abducted teachers and schoolchildren, stressing that the victims have neither been forgotten nor abandoned.
According to the governor, every day the kidnapped individuals remain in captivity brings pain and anxiety to their families as well as the entire state.

He noted that the government continues to work tirelessly to ensure their safe return.
The governor described the abduction as one of the most difficult issues confronting his administration, adding that security agencies and relevant authorities are engaged in ongoing operations aimed at rescuing the victims unharmed.
He urged residents to remain patient and supportive, explaining that the sensitive nature of the rescue efforts limits the amount of information that can be made public.
“We will not relent until the kidnapped teachers and schoolchildren return home safely,” Makinde said.
The governor emphasized that extensive efforts are being carried out behind the scenes to secure the release of those in captivity and restore confidence among residents.
“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes,” he stated.
The night-time restriction on motorcycle movement is expected to complement ongoing security measures by limiting activities often associated with criminal operations during late hours, while authorities continue efforts to safeguard lives and property across Oyo State
