Mass protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandate erupts in Australia
Mass protest erupted in Australia on Saturday as citizens took to the streets in their thousands to agitate against the imposition of COVID-19 vaccination mandates by state governments. Though the federal government on Australia made COVID vaccination voluntary for citizens, states made it compulsory for all, and impose sanctions on the unvaccinated.
Micro crowds were said to have converged in some parts of the country making public solidarity in support of the vaccine mandate, noting that compulsory vaccination has made Australia one of the most inoculated in the world.
It was revealed that about 85 per cent of Australian citizens in the age bracket of 16 and above have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus as of November 19. Though national vaccinations are voluntary, states and territories imposed mandatory vaccinations on citizens, barring the unvaccinated from public activities like dining out and concerts.
The vaccine mandate protesters shouting “freedom”, displayed placards depicting “fight tyranny”; “unvaxxed lives matter”, “billion business”, and questioning, “experiment or vaccine”.
The anti-vaccination protesters marched through the streets of central Melbourne, entertaining several citizens who were enjoying the Christmas window displays of big department stores in the city.
The protesters also stormed Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
