Nigeria Decides 2023: Obi assures of reuniting Nigeria by strict adherence to constitution
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, at a town hall meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, promised that his administration will reunite Nigeria by adhering to the provisions of the constitution. He added that a review of the Constitution will be part of the overall restructuring Nigerians desire. He maintained that the review of the constitution will entail legislative, executive and judicial actions, saying, “ultimately the Nigerian people will decide”.
According to Obi, “We will seek to reunite Nigeria through strict adherence to Constitutional provisions on equitable representation in federal establishments and regenerate a sense of belonging to all citizens through inclusivity and adequate representation of women, youths and people with disability in government.”
Obi further said that the Labour Party government will proactively restore Nigeria’s leadership role in African affairs through constructive engagement, using existing sub-regional and regional forums as well as bilateral platforms for dialogue on current and emerging challenges.
He stated that under his leadership, the power of the military will be rebuilt, and economic growth will be promoted.
He disclosed that the nation’s technological prowess will be improved, as well as increasing Nigeria’s diplomatic influence in sub-regional, regional and global affairs through peacekeeping activities.
