Nigeria too strong to be intimidated by insurgents, says Oluremi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence in the country’s ability to overcome its security challenges, declaring that Nigerians are too resilient and united to be cowed by insurgents and other criminal elements threatening national peace.

She made the remarks on Saturday while addressing members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council during a meeting at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.

The First Lady assured traditional rulers that the Federal Government remains fully committed to tackling insecurity across the country and restoring lasting peace in affected communities.

According to her, the administration is intensifying efforts to confront insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats, while working closely with relevant agencies and international partners to improve the nation’s security architecture.

Mrs. Tinubu said Nigerians should remain optimistic despite the challenges facing the country, emphasizing that the nation’s strength, resilience, and unity would ultimately prevail over forces seeking to destabilize it.

“Nigerians are too great to be intimidated by insurgents. Let us remain hopeful and continue to pray for the nation,” she said.

She further expressed faith that the country’s security situation would improve significantly in the near future, noting that ongoing interventions and support from friendly nations were contributing to efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability.

The First Lady acknowledged the assistance Nigeria continues to receive from foreign partners in the fight against terrorism and other forms of insecurity, describing such cooperation as valuable in strengthening the nation’s response to emerging threats.

She also urged citizens to maintain hope and continue supporting government efforts through vigilance, unity, and prayers for the country’s progress.

Expressing confidence in Nigeria’s future, Mrs. Tinubu said she believed divine guidance and the collective determination of Nigerians would help the nation overcome its current difficulties.

“God will not abandon the country in its efforts to overcome its challenges,” she stated.

Her remarks come at a time when security remains one of the major concerns across parts of the country, with government authorities intensifying military and intelligence operations against insurgent groups and criminal networks.

The meeting with traditional rulers also highlighted the important role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, community engagement, and cooperation with security agencies in addressing security challenges at the grassroots level.

Observers note that traditional rulers remain key stakeholders in efforts to strengthen local intelligence gathering, foster social cohesion, and support government initiatives aimed at enhancing security and national development.

As the government continues its campaign against insecurity, the First Lady’s message sought to reassure Nigerians that the country possesses the strength and determination needed to overcome current challenges and build a more peaceful and secure future.
