Nigerian military descends on Sokoto bandits; large-scale bombs, deaths, wounds; locals admit bandits never got it this hard.
The wife and mother of Bokkolo, a notorious bandit in Sokoto forests, were reportedly trapped when fighter jets bombarded his residence in Sokoto State.
Isa and Sabo Birni, home to bandits that fled Katsina in the heat of military onslaught, are one big hell of place to live for the criminal.
The federal troop have been shelling the area both on the ground and from the air, leading to deaths, carnage, and panic among residents and bandits alike.
A notorious bandit named Bokkolo is largely a loser now, if he happens to be alive.
His home was bombarded by the military air assets, leading to the death of lieutenants, his wife, and mother.
Apart from the hundreds killed, the criminals have fled, many with gunshot wounds, to Tsabre, Sarkin Darai and Tiɗibale which are between Goronyo and Unguwan Lalle in Sokoto, according to locals..
“But we are not sure whether Bokkolo is among the dead, but his wife and mother were at home during the raid,” the source said.
The operation is being led by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, and locals said they have never witnessed such military might since banditry went out of hand in the region.
A military source said most of the areas bombarded were under the control of the notorious bandits’ leader, Turji, but there was no report on his death for now.
