Nigerian nurses must work for two years post qualification before they can practice abroad — NMCN
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN, says Nigerian nurses and midwives must have a minimum of two years post-qualification work experience from the date of issuance of permanent practicing licence before their certificates can be verified by foreign nursing boards/councils.
This is even as the Council said applicants must have an active practicing licence with a minimum of six months to expiration date, adding that applications with provisional licence shall be rejected outrightly.
This was contained in the revised guidelines for verification of certificate(s) signed by NMCN’s Registrar/Secretary General, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar.
According to the revised guidelines, the Council shall also request a letter of good standing from the Chief Executive Officer of the applicant’s place(s) of work and the last nursing training institution attended.
